Sleeping

There is a range of equipment related to sleeping & bedtime

Some children with complex health and physical needs require a “sleep system” which maintains their posture in a healthy position at night. Some children require beds which keep them safe and secure. There may be a need for a child to be physically turned at night. This type of equipment is usually expensive and an Occupational Therapist (OT) should be able to help either by supplying the equipment or suggesting sources of funding.

Many children have issues with continence at night. There are a range of mattress protectors, alarms etc available. ERIC (Education and Resources for Improving Childhood Incontinence) has a helpline and a shop selling related equipment. http://www.eric.org.uk.
